Concert Lighting is soon to change.
2004 borught new protocols to our world.
DMX512 via XLR-5 is still king, but for how long?
The new protocols are supposed to replace the XLR-5 and take away the problems that DMX512 has.
Personally I think that the XLR-5 should be the standard for Concert Lighting. It has been the best for so many years and changing over to these new protocols would be unnecessarily expensive and time consuming. Even buying converter boxes so you can run your XLR-5 fixtures would be extremely expensive.
